Tandem skydive with Go Jump Kenya

Guide for Your Tandem Skydive in Diani Beach

In this guide, we explain everything you can expect on the day of your tandem skydive with Go Jump Kenya — from arrival and briefing to boarding the aircraft, freefall, and your beach landing.

Tandem Skydive in Diani Beach or Vipingo: What to Expect

If you have already booked your tandem skydive or received a gift voucher, these are the steps that follow. If not, you can easily Book Your Tandem Skydive or Purchase a Gift Voucher at any time.

Step 1: A Day or Two Before Your Skydive

After you book your tandem skydive, our team will contact you one or two days before your jump to confirm your arrival time and location. Please check your confirmation email carefully to verify whether your skydive is scheduled at Diani Beach or Vipingo, and review the location maps provided on our website. If you have any questions before the jump, we recommend reading our FAQ section for quick answers and important information.

Step 2: Arrival at the Jump Location (Diani Beach or Vipingo)

On the day of your tandem skydive, you will arrive directly at the designated beach meeting point:

  • Diani Beach: Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort or The 41 Beach Club
  • Vipingo: Vipingo Ridge Beach Club (Northern Coast)

A Go Jump Kenya representative will greet you and guide you through the process.

Step 3: Meeting our staff & Signing Waivers

Our office staff will welcome you, guide you through the check-in process, and provide the necessary waivers to complete. You will also be asked to present a valid ID or passport and can discuss any initial questions with our team.

Once the paperwork is finished, your tandem instructor will meet you and take over from there, guiding you through the rest of the experience. In some cases, your instructor may be in the air with another tandem passenger when you arrive, so please allow a few minutes for them to return before greeting you.

Step 4: Safety Briefing on the Beach

Next, your instructor will give you a short but comprehensive safety briefing.

You will learn:

  • the correct freefall body position,
  • how you will exit the aircraft together,
  • how to lift your legs for landing,
  • basic communication signals.

This briefing takes place right on the beach, with the stunning Diani or Vipingo coastline behind you — a perfect start to your adventure.

Step 5: Gearing Up for Your Skydive

When it’s time to prepare, your instructor will help you gear up with:

  • a harness specifically designed for tandem skydiving,
  • goggles for freefall,

They will double-check every connection to ensure maximum safety.

Step 6: Transport to the Airport

Once you are geared up, we will take you in our skydiving vehicle to the airport:

  • Diani Beach jumps depart from Diani Airport (Ukunda Airport)
  • Vipingo jumps depart from Vipingo Airport inside Vipingo Ridge

The short ride offers a chance to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Step 7: Take-Off and Scenic Flight to Jump Altitude

As you approach the aircraft and begin boarding, your instructor will guide you to your seating position and secure you safely for the flight. Please stay close to your instructor and follow all instructions carefully, as aircraft procedures are an essential part of the skydive.

As the plane climbs, you’ll enjoy breathtaking aerial views:

  • turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean,
  • white sandy beaches of Diani Beach,
  • lush green coastline of Vipingo,
  • coral reefs and tropical scenery unique to Kenya.

The climb to altitude takes 15–25 minutes depending on weather and aircraft type.

Step 8: Preparing to Exit the Aircraft

Once the aircraft reaches jump altitude, the door opens — and the adventure truly begins.

Your instructor will:

  • position both of you at the aircraft door,
  • give the countdown you practiced during the briefing.

The wind, adrenaline, and anticipation all peak in this moment.

Step 9: Freefall Over the Kenyan Coastline

And then—you jump!

You will experience 30–40 seconds of pure freefall at up to 200 km/h above the Indian Ocean, the beaches, and the vibrant coastline of Diani or Vipingo.

Your instructor maintains complete control while you enjoy the exhilarating sensation of human flight.

If you purchased a video package, this is where the camera captures your best smiles and reactions.

Step 10: Parachute Opening & Canopy Flight

At the correct altitude, your instructor deploys the parachute.

The transition from freefall to canopy flight feels like a sudden, gentle deceleration — then the world becomes quiet.

Under parachute, you will enjoy:

  • peaceful gliding over turquoise waters,
  • views of Diani Beach or Vipingo Beach,
  • optional gentle or dynamic turns,
  • a relaxing 5–10 minute flight.

Many guests say this is the most beautiful part of the experience.

Step 11: Landing on the White Sand Beach

Your instructor will direct the parachute toward the designated landing area on the beach:

  • Diani Beach for Diani jumps
  • Vipingo Ridge Beach Club for Vipingo jumps

Just lift your legs as instructed, and enjoy a safe, controlled landing on soft white sand.

Congratulations — you just completed a tandem skydive in one of the most beautiful locations on Earth!

Step 12: After Your Skydive

If you purchased a video package, our team will edit your footage and send a download link within a few days.

We always appreciate feedback or reviews — they help future guests discover skydiving in Diani Beach and Vipingo.
